Happy Halloween!

We started our evening at Ronda's.  She LOVES Halloween and always decorates her house and her yard and she goes all out.

After dinner, we went Trick-or-Treating to a few of the houses close by, then came home to hand out candy.  Owen was very content to eat a sucker and watch the kids.  He was so funny...he'd even wave out the door at them as they left.  When bedtime rolled around, he crashed!

Carving our Pumpkin

Owen's cold has now officially been passed on to both Paul and me.  His coughing kept us up all night, so by the time morning rolled around, we were all in rough shape.  (Not to mention that he's getting a tooth too). We decided not to go to church and share our germs, but to just stay in and rest.  We watched some Yo Gabba Gabba, daddy made homemade waffles and we carved our pumpkin.

This looks bad...we had just cleaned off the table and set the knives down when we showed Owen the finished pumpkin.  He wasn't alone with the knives on the table!!!

Halloween Party at the Crain's House

Our friends Joe and Lisa host a Halloween party each year.  This is the first year that Owen has been old enough to go and play with the other kids.  He had a lot of fun.

The Kowalski's Boo Bash

Every year, Kowalski's hosts a really nice evening of Trick-or-Treating for the kids.  It is well organized and A LOT of kids get through the store in just a few hours.  This year, the other families at daycare were going too, so we all decided to go together.  Ronda was so excited that she and Terry came too so they could see the boys.  Owen had been up all night the night before, so he was pretty quiet and not very smiley.  He wasn't afraid of the scary costumes, and everyone laughed because he kept trying to check out the groceries....the meat, some bottles of soda, a bag of bread...my little grocery shopper.

Owen at 20 Months

Owen turned 20 months old this week.  At 20 months, he is one active little man!  He runs and does not walk!  He loves to play with the broom, vacuum and mop toys  at Ronda's house.  He loves music and plays the guitar, harmonica, and drum every chance he gets.  He says Mama, Dada, Papa, Nana, bug, bubble, ball, car, "Gabba Gabba," duck, quack, star, juice, cheese, shoes, apple, and I'm sure more that I am forgetting.  He understands so many more words than he says.  He is able to follow simple instructions like, "Please put your jammies in the laundry basket," or "let's put your shoes on."
He is a very good eater.  He still loves his fruit - bananas, apples, pears and berries are his favorites right now.  He has gotten better with vegetables too.  He has figured out which cupboard has the applesauce pouches in them, so he grabs them and says, "Mama, Mama!"  That is what he does when he wants something!

He loves to read, which I am so happy about!  We don't always get through the whole story, but we like to point at things in the pictures.  His favorites are  I Love you Through and Through, Snuggle Puppy and Baby's First Book of Words.

Up until last night, he was going to bed at 7:30 and would go down really well.  He slept until about 7 or 7:30 in the morning.  Last night, he cried all night long.  He coughed a little bit, but I think more than anything, he was just manipulating me so I'd stay in the room with him.  As soon as I put him down or walked out of his room, he screamed bloody murder. Tonight he started to scream when I walked out of his room.  I let him cry for about 40 minutes and then his cries sounded "closer" than normal.  I ran upstairs to find him standing in the hallway.  He climbed out of his crib for the first time!  It was surreal seeing him standing there!   I am praying that he stays in his crib the rest of the night.  Paul is traveling and will be home in the morning, so we may be transitioning his crib into a toddler bed tomorrow after work. :(  I'm not ready for this yet.

Owen is at such a fun age.  He loves to wave to random people in the grocery store, hi-5 his buddies as we leave daycare, walk up to me out of the blue and give me a kiss or a hug....I love this age!

The Shrine Circus

Today we went to the Shrine Circus at the Target Center.  It is the first real "show" that we've taken Owen to.  Our friend Becky works for the Shriner's Hospital and gave us tickets to the show.  We met up with her and Sully.  The show was 3 hours long and both boys did pretty well given the length of time they had to sit still.

Whistling Wells Farm

We have been so busy visiting pumpkin patches this fall, we haven't had a chance to go to the apple orchard yet.  Owen LOVES apples, and has been eating them as quickly as I buy them from the store.  We had some free time this morning, so we decided to try a new orchard close to home.  There weren't as many things for kids to do as there is at Aamodt's or Afton Apple, but it is a nice little place for picking apples.
