EleFUN!

Bobby and Nesha gave Owen a game called Elefun for Christmas.  When we got home from dinner tonight, we set it up and he had SO much fun collecting butterflies in his net.  Great gift idea guys!!  Thanks again for the fun afternoon.

Here they come!

He decided it was more fun to just pick them up off the ground and put them in his net!

Christmas with the Withers'

Today we met up with our friends, the Withers family, to celebrate Christmas with them.  We started off at Edinborough Park, a great indoor playground.  It reminds me a lot of Lookout Ridge, but is much larger and has a scooter room where the kids can play basketball and ride all different kinds of scooters.  I loved that they have an area just for kids under 4.  It made it much more enjoyable for Owen.  The kids had a great time and the parents were hot after chasing the kiddos!  We finished off the evening with dinner at Macaroni Grill.

Lots of fun toys to play with and to climb on

Thanksgiving at Bear and Ruby's House

We celebrated Thanksgiving at Bob and Dawn's this year.  We enjoyed lots of yummy food and Owen had fun playing with his cousins, Ruby and Bear.

If he wasn't playing with the doggies, this is how Owen spent his time....

It's hard to get a good picture of both a toddler and a doggie!

Somersaults!

When I got to Ronda's yesterday, she whispered to me, "Ask Liam to do a somersault."  I did, and he proudly did one.  What I wasn't expecting was Owen to hop up and do one too!  Granted, he's not the most graceful at them, but he is awfully proud of himself once he's done one for you.  He loves the applause!

This one would have been good if that darn couch wouldn't have gotten in his way!

Eye Doctor Follow Up Appointment

On Tuesday, Owen had to go to the eye doctor for a 6 month follow up appointment.  Given that the appointments are about an hour and a half, he does a really good job at them.  I asked how they can tell this early if his vision is poor.  I had glasses at 18 months, but I don't remember much from that point, so I wanted to know more. They shine lights in his eyes and watch how the light reflects off of certain parts of his eye.  Then they do it while holding lenses over his eyes and see how that changes the light's reflection.  In a nutshell, that's how they can tell how his vision is.
Owen is nearsighted and has an astigmatism, which are both common for ex-preemies, but I have both too, so genetics aren't on his side either!  His doctor explained that the longer your eye grows width-wise, the more nearsighted you become.  His eyes hadn't grown much in the last 6 months, so his nearsightedness isn't much worse.  She decided not to prescribe glasses for him now, but she wants to follow up with him every 6 months until he is 4 so we can catch it if it gets worse.

The eye doctor has fun toys in the waiting room and on the wall in the exam room!

Happy 60th Birthday Nana!

My mom turned 60 last week, so we hosted a small birthday dinner for her on Saturday night.  Owen wouldn't go down for a nap at normal time that day, so he napped from 4-6PM.  That meant a 7:30 bedtime wasn't happening!  He wanted to party with the grown-ups!

I love my Nana!
