My Sick Little Man

This week was a rough one at our house.  Owen got croup again for the second time this winter.  Croup is so hard because he seems playful and fine during the day, but then has a horrible seal-like cough in the night.  He coughs, wakes himself up, then cries because he doesn't feel well.  He stayed home a few days this week and we thought he was starting to get over it.  The last fever he had was Wednesday night, and his cough is going away and sounds like a normal cough.

This morning though, he woke up and was crabby and had a VERY runny nose.  He had a fever much of the day, so I think he may have gotten a cold now too.  He hardly ate enough to feed a bird today.  He loves applesauce and baby food pouches, so I kept trying to push them so he'd get some nutrition at least, but he wouldn't take them.  That has to be a first!  This kid LOVES pouches.  Even though he hasn't needed baby food since he first turned one, we used the pouches to get vegetables in him when he went through picky phases and he'd gobble them right up.  I always keep a few on hand just in case.

I even tried to make these special snacks for him today to tempt him to take a bite, but he wasn't having it.  Hopefully tomorrow is a better day.

"Spider" crackers with peanut butter, pretzels, raisins, strawberry and Cheerios

Whole wheat bread, pizza sauce and provolone cut into O's favorite shape
